Philippine Studies goes International Thanks to Belinda Aquino

Philippine studies is now available at University of Hawaii in Mānoa thanks to director-professor, Belinda A. Aquino.

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Director and Professor of the Center of Philippine Studies in the University of Hawaii, Belinda Aquino, international, comparative, cross-cultural, and multidisciplinary perspectives for Filipinos outside the country was enabled.

Due to all the time Aquino served studying and teaching in line with her field, she had worked her way to the top becoming the foremost expert on Philippine culture, politics and power in the United States.

With multiple local and international awards, she also spent her time visiting schools across Asia which includes countries like Tokyo to teach while also having the goal set to raise funds that would help, promote and enhance subjects taught about the Philippines internationally.

“Through this endowment, I hope to perpetuate an intellectual tradition of acquiring a deeper knowledge and understanding of the Philippines as a strategic country in the Asia-Pacific region and a vibrant member of the international community,” she stated.

The endowment was allotted for the Philippines and the Filipinoes. Spreading information about the contributions, prominence, and history of the Philippines enables different nationalities knowledge while Filipinoes are endorsee for student exchange programs, scholarships, and other initiatives internationally.

Successfully the Philippines Studies Program was launched in 1975 and is still running at present time.
